Delhi Hot Air Balloon Ride Returns With Lower Ticket Plan

The Delhi hot air balloon ride is expected to return at Baansera Park near Sarai Kale Khan from 14 November, with the Delhi Development Authority preparing a lower ticket price and online booking system to attract more visitors.

The activity was also organised at Baansera Park in November last year. Officials said the ride is being planned again for the winter season, when weather conditions in north India are generally considered suitable for balloon rides. The ride will offer visitors an aerial view of the area around the park.

The previous ticket price was about Rs 2,300 per person. However, the response was not as strong as expected, according to the report, and the ride was subsequently organised only on weekends. The new ticket price has not yet been finalised, but organisers are considering reducing it this year.

A hot-air balloon journey generally lasts between seven and 12 minutes, with up to four people allowed on one ride. The activity is designed as a leisure attraction within the park, giving visitors a short aerial experience rather than a conventional ground-based recreational facility.

The organisers are also preparing an online ticket-booking arrangement. The proposed system is intended to make ticket purchases easier and increase awareness of the activity. The date on which online bookings will open has not been announced, and the revised ticket price is also awaited.

The planned restart places the balloon ride within the Delhi Development Authority’s wider effort to develop recreational uses around public parks and open spaces. Baansera, located near Sarai Kale Khan, was the only location identified in the supplied report for the current restart plan.

The DDA had previously finalised locations for balloon rides at Baansera, Asita on the Yamuna banks, the Yamuna Sports Complex and the Commonwealth Games Sports Complex. However, plans to expand the facility beyond Baansera are currently on hold, according to the report.

The restart will therefore initially depend on the final operating arrangements at Baansera Park, including the new fare, booking process and schedule. The DDA and organisers are expected to provide further details before the proposed 14 November launch.
