Delhi Dussehra 2026 celebrations will feature large-scale Ravan effigy burnings across the National Capital Region, with events involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu and Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan, while police and fire departments prepare for large crowds and multiple venues.
At the Shri Ramlila Committee Indraprastha event in IP Extension, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to attend the Dussehra programme. Organisers have prepared effigies of Ravan, Kumbhakarna and Meghnad, along with one representing black-marketers of counterfeit medicines. The additional effigy is intended to convey a message against a social and public-health-related offence.
In southwest Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to attend the Dussehra programme of the Dwarka Shri Ramlila Society in Sector 10. The event will include the burning of a 221-foot Ravan effigy, described in the report as approximately the height of a 22-storey building. Around 120 artisans reportedly worked on the effigy for three months. The venue has been designed around a Somnath Temple theme, with organisers also highlighting the participation of young Generation Z performers in the Ramlila.
The Luv Kush Ramlila at the Red Fort grounds will feature a 110-foot Ravan, a 100-foot Kumbhakarna and a 90-foot Meghnad. According to the organisers, the presentation will include stage effects showing fire from Ravan’s eyes, changing colours in the 11 garlands around his neck and the release of symbolic nectar from his navel when struck by Lord Ram’s arrow. Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan is scheduled to be the chief guest.
The National Capital Region will also see themed and technologically enhanced effigies. At the Netaji Subhash Place ground in Pitampura, the Shri Keshav Ramlila Committee plans to burn a 30-foot cockroach effigy alongside the traditional figures. In Ghaziabad’s Ghantaghar Ramlila Maidan, organisers have prepared a 100-foot Ravan, a 95-foot Meghnad and a 90-foot Kumbhakarna. The effigies are expected to feature moving heads and fire effects from their eyes and mouths. Similar programmes are planned at the Kavinagar, Raj Nagar and Sanjay Nagar grounds.
Authorities in Gautam Buddh Nagar have prepared a broader public-safety operation covering both Ravan dahan events and Durga idol immersions. The district police have deployed 2,200 personnel, while 250 firefighters and 26 fire vehicles are scheduled to remain available. Police arrangements cover 35 Ramlila and Ravan dahan locations and 200 immersion sites, including 158 Durga pandals. Officials have also said that additional forces may be deployed if crowd conditions require them.
In Greater Noida West, the Radhakrishna Park Ramlila at Gaur City is expected to feature the city’s tallest effigy, at 70 feet. Across the region, organisers have said that eco-friendly firecrackers and remote-controlled burning mechanisms will be used at several venues. The events will place simultaneous demands on crowd management, emergency response and local movement systems as celebrations take place at multiple urban grounds.
