Chennai airport cancelled 11 flights on Monday after adverse weather conditions linked to Cyclone Murasu disrupted services connecting the city with Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Kadapa and Tiruchirappalli, according to a flight advisory issued by the airport.
The cancellations affected three flights between Chennai and Vijayawada, two services connecting Chennai and Rajahmundry, two flights on the Chennai–Kadapa route and four services between Chennai and Tiruchirappalli. The affected operations included both arrivals and departures, disrupting travel in and out of Chennai as weather conditions deteriorated.
On the Vijayawada route, IndiGo flight 6E7304 from Vijayawada to Chennai was scheduled to depart at 12.30pm and arrive at 1.55pm. Its return service, 6E7305, was scheduled to leave Chennai at 2.45pm and reach Vijayawada at 4.05pm. Another service, 6E7306, was scheduled to operate from Vijayawada to Chennai between 7.25pm and 8.50pm. All three flights were listed among the cancelled services.
The Chennai–Rajahmundry services affected were IndiGo flight 6E7365, scheduled to depart Chennai at 2.35pm and arrive in Rajahmundry at 4.05pm, and the return flight 6E7366, scheduled to leave Rajahmundry at 4.50pm and arrive in Chennai at 6.25pm.
Two flights on the Chennai–Kadapa route were also cancelled. Flight 6E7398 from Kadapa to Chennai was scheduled to operate between 1.25pm and 2.30pm, while the return service, 6E7397, was scheduled to depart Chennai at 2.50pm and arrive in Kadapa at 3.45pm.
The cancellations also affected four flights between Chennai and Tiruchirappalli. These were flight 6E7357 from Chennai to Tiruchirappalli, scheduled for 5.40pm to 6.45pm; flight 6E7358 from Tiruchirappalli to Chennai, scheduled for 7.05pm to 8.15pm; flight 6E7363 from Chennai to Tiruchirappalli, scheduled for 8.50pm to 9.55pm; and flight 6E7364 from Tiruchirappalli to Chennai, scheduled for 10.10pm to 11.20pm.
The affected routes connect Chennai with cities in Tamil Nadu and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, making the disruption relevant to both intercity passengers and regional air connectivity. Travellers booked on the listed services will need to check the latest status of their flights and any airline communication before proceeding to the airport.
The Chennai airport advisory did not provide details of revised schedules or the duration of the weather-related disruption. Further operational updates will depend on weather conditions and airline decisions.
