The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation demolished 16 unauthorised constructions across its three zones on October 13, marking a fresh enforcement action against building violations in Hyderabad’s rapidly developing western urban areas.
The demolitions were carried out during a corporation-wide drive, according to The Hindu, which cited information from the CMC. The action covered Quthbullapur, Serilingampally and Kukatpally, with field teams conducting inspections and taking action against identified structures.
Quthbullapur recorded the highest number of demolitions, with seven structures removed. Five demolitions were carried out in Serilingampally, while four took place in Kukatpally. The corporation did not provide further details in the report about the nature, size or ownership of the structures involved.
CMC officials also served two notices during field-level inspections. The notices form part of the prescribed enforcement process, while the demolitions represent follow-up action against unauthorised construction identified by the civic body.
Unauthorised construction enforcement is a core municipal responsibility because building activity is regulated through approvals, land-use controls and applicable development rules. In Cyberabad, where urban growth has spread across multiple municipal zones, field inspections are the mechanism through which violations are identified and brought into the corporation’s enforcement process.
The CMC said its field teams would continue inspections across the corporation’s jurisdiction. It also said further action would be taken against identified violations in accordance with prescribed procedures and applicable regulations.
The corporation’s next steps will therefore include continued field inspections and follow-up enforcement across its three zones. The available information does not specify the number of additional cases under review or provide a timeline for subsequent demolition or notice actions.
