CSMT Extensions Train Schedule Changes

Central Railway (CR) has announced a series of special blocks at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) from May 17 to June 1. These blocks are intended for platform extensions to accommodate 24-coach trains and will occur nightly between 11 pm and 5 am.

This construction work is expected to significantly impact train operations between Byculla and CSMT during these hours. During the block period, the last local train to Kasara from CSMT will depart at 12.14 am, while the final local to Karjat will leave at 12.06 am. Additionally, the last local service to CSMT from Kalyan will be at 10.34 pm. Passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience. Officials have also indicated that several long-distance trains might be short terminated at Dadar on certain days within the block period. This measure is necessary to manage train traffic and ensure the smooth progression of the platform extension works.

These platform upgrades at CSMT are part of Central Railway’s ongoing efforts to enhance capacity and improve service efficiency. While the temporary blocks will cause some disruptions, the long-term benefits of accommodating longer trains will significantly improve passenger convenience and operational capabilities. Travellers are urged to stay informed about schedule changes and plan their travel accordingly during this period. Central Railway is working diligently to minimise disruptions and complete the extension project within the stipulated timeframe, thereby improving overall train service at CSMT.
