Chennai Metro Rail Limited will run services on the Sunday timetable on October 19 and 20 for the Ayudha Pooja and Vijayadashami holidays, with revised operating hours and longer intervals on the newly opened Yellow Line.
On the Blue and Green Lines, trains will operate from 5 am to 11 pm on both days. Services will run every 10 minutes from 5 am to noon and again from 8 pm to 10 pm.
During the afternoon and evening period between noon and 8 pm, trains on the two lines will run at seven-minute intervals. The frequency will reduce to one train every 15 minutes between 10 pm and 11 pm.
The Yellow Line will follow a separate schedule. Services on the newly opened corridor will operate from 7 am to 9 pm on both October 19 and October 20, with trains available every 15 minutes throughout the operating period.
The changes cover two consecutive public holidays: Ayudha Pooja on Monday and Vijayadashami on Tuesday. The revised schedule means that commuters using the Yellow Line will have a shorter operating window than passengers travelling on the Blue and Green Lines.
CMRL has urged passengers to plan their journeys according to the holiday timetable. Commuters travelling late at night or transferring between corridors will need to account for the different closing times and service intervals on the three lines.
The Sunday timetable is intended to align train operations with the expected holiday travel pattern. The announcement provides commuters with the service hours and frequency details needed to plan journeys across Chennai during the two-day holiday period.
