Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) will operate trains according to a Sunday timetable on October 19 and 20 for the Ayudha Pooja and Vijayadashami holidays, respectively, with different operating hours and frequencies across its lines.
On the Blue and Green Lines, services will run from 5 am to 11 pm on both days. Trains will operate every 10 minutes from 5 am to noon and again between 8 pm and 10 pm.
During the afternoon and evening peak period from noon to 8 pm, the frequency will increase to one train every seven minutes. Services will run every 15 minutes between 10 pm and 11 pm before operations end for the day.
The newly opened Yellow Line will follow a separate schedule. Services on the line will operate from 7 am to 9 pm on October 19 and 20, with trains available every 15 minutes throughout the operating hours.
The revised schedule means that commuters using the Yellow Line will have a shorter operating window than those travelling on the Blue and Green Lines. Passengers connecting between lines or planning late-evening journeys have been advised to account for the different timings.
CMRL has urged commuters to plan their journeys according to the holiday schedule. The changes apply only to the two festival holidays, after which services are expected to follow the regular timetable.
