Chennai airport flight cancellations linked to adverse weather caused by Cyclone Murasu disrupted 11 services connecting the city with Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Kadapa and Tiruchirappalli on Monday, according to a flight advisory issued by Chennai airport.
The cancellations affected three flights on the Chennai–Vijayawada route, two services between Chennai and Rajahmundry, two between Chennai and Kadapa, and four flights connecting Chennai with Tiruchirappalli. The advisory included both arrivals and departures, affecting passengers travelling in either direction.
On the Vijayawada route, IndiGo flight 6E7304 from Vijayawada to Chennai, scheduled to depart at 12.30pm and arrive at 1.55pm, was cancelled. Its return service, flight 6E7305 from Chennai to Vijayawada, was scheduled to leave at 2.45pm and arrive at 4.05pm. Another Vijayawada–Chennai service, flight 6E7306, was scheduled to depart at 7.25pm and arrive at 8.50pm.
Two Chennai–Rajahmundy services were also listed among the cancellations. Flight 6E7365 from Chennai to Rajahmundry was scheduled to depart at 2.35pm and arrive at 4.05pm, while the return service, flight 6E7366, was scheduled to leave Rajahmundry at 4.50pm and reach Chennai at 6.25pm.
The Chennai–Kadapa route saw the cancellation of flight 6E7398 from Kadapa to Chennai, scheduled to operate from 1.25pm to 2.30pm. Its return service, flight 6E7397 from Chennai to Kadapa, was scheduled between 2.50pm and 3.45pm.
Four flights between Chennai and Tiruchirappalli were also affected. These were flight 6E7357 from Chennai to Tiruchirappalli, scheduled from 5.40pm to 6.45pm; flight 6E7358 from Tiruchirappalli to Chennai, scheduled from 7.05pm to 8.15pm; flight 6E7363 from Chennai to Tiruchirappalli, scheduled from 8.50pm to 9.55pm; and flight 6E7364 from Tiruchirappalli to Chennai, scheduled from 10.10pm to 11.20pm.
The cancellations place short-haul regional air connectivity between Chennai and key cities in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu under disruption during the adverse weather conditions. The Chennai airport advisory identified the affected services and their scheduled timings; passengers using these flights should check the latest information from the airport or airline before travelling.
