BMTC Bus Fare Hike Starts November 5: New Bengaluru Rates

The BMTC bus fare hike will take effect from midnight on November 5, raising ticket prices across Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation’s ordinary, air-conditioned Vajra and airport-bound Vayu Vajra services. The revised fares include increases on routes from Kempegowda Bus Station, commonly known as Majestic, and on selected services from Kempegowda International Airport.

For ordinary BMTC buses, the minimum fare from Majestic will rise from Rs 6 to Rs 10 for short trips to Magadi Road 1st Cross and Maharani College. Fares to Corporation and Shivajinagar will increase from Rs 12 to Rs 18, while travel to Shantinagar and Yeshwanthpur will cost Rs 25 instead of Rs 18.

The revised ordinary-bus fares listed by BMTC include Rs 30 to Hebbal and Lakkasandra, Rs 35 to Jayanagar and Banashankari, and Rs 38 to Jambusavari Dinne. Passengers travelling to Madanayakanahalli will pay Rs 40, while fares to Nelamangala and Sarjapur will also rise to Rs 40. The fare to Attibele will increase to Rs 42, while trips to Devanahalli, Harohalli and Sampangere, also known as Chikkatirupati, will cost Rs 42, Rs 44 and Rs 44 respectively.

The fare revision also covers Vajra air-conditioned buses operating from Majestic. The fare to Maharani College will rise from Rs 15 to Rs 20, and the ticket to Corporation will increase from Rs 20 to Rs 25. Passengers travelling to Shantinagar will pay Rs 30 instead of Rs 25, while fares to Hebbal and Lakkasandra will rise from Rs 30 to Rs 40.

On longer Vajra routes, the fare to Gottigere will increase to Rs 50 from Rs 40. Tickets to ITPL and Sarjapur will cost Rs 65, compared with the earlier fares of Rs 50 and Rs 55. The fare to Attibele will rise from Rs 60 to Rs 75.

Airport passengers will also face higher fares on Vayu Vajra services. On route KIA-5 between Kempegowda International Airport and Banashankari TTMC, the fare will rise from Rs 295 to Rs 325. KIA-6A to Kadugodi Bus Station will cost Rs 325 instead of Rs 305, while KIA-8A to Kuvempu Nagar will increase from Rs 335 to Rs 350.

The revised airport fares include Rs 400 on KIA-8D to Sarjapur, Rs 400 on KIA-8E to Electronic City Wipro Gate and Rs 425 on KIA-8H to Attibele. The KIA-9 service to Kempegowda Bus Station will rise from Rs 265 to Rs 300. Fares on KIA-14 to Royal Meenakshi Mall and KIA-15 and KIA-15A services to Whitefield TTMC will increase to Rs 325, while KIA-15 will cost Rs 325 instead of Rs 300.

The fare changes affect three distinct parts of Bengaluru’s bus network: short-distance city travel, premium air-conditioned services and airport connectivity. The source report said BMTC was still discussing revised daily, weekly and monthly pass prices, with details expected to be released separately by the end of the day. Until that announcement, the updated pass rates remain unspecified.
