Mumbai’s swimming enthusiasts have reason to rejoice as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announces the opening of three new swimming pools in Andheri (East), Worli, and Vikhroli. The much-anticipated online registration for these state-of-the-art pools begins on March 6, introducing a ‘First Come First Entry’ system for eager swimmers.

The move comes as part of the BMC’s initiative to expand recreational facilities, providing residents with modern amenities for fitness and leisure. These three pools are part of a larger plan to construct six new swimming facilities across the city. The BMC’s online registration platform, accessible at https://swimmingpool.mcgm.gov.in, is set to open its virtual doors at 6 am on Wednesday. Citizens, both young and old, are encouraged to secure their spots early.
A BMC official shared that the new pools aim to cater to a diverse audience by offering discounted rates for specific groups. School students, senior citizens, and disabled citizens will enjoy a concession in fees, fostering inclusivity in the community. Additionally, a special batch exclusively for women will be available, promoting accessibility and comfort. The swimming timings for men at all three pools will be from 6 am to 11 am and 6 pm to 10 pm. The annual membership fee for the general category is Rs 8,836, providing access to these modern facilities. Furthermore, the pools will host dedicated sessions for women from 11 am to 12 pm and 5 pm to 6 pm, with an annual membership fee of Rs 6,716 for female members.
Notably, the BMC has strategically chosen locations across the city to ensure widespread accessibility. The annual fee for school students, senior citizens, disabled citizens, BMC’s current and retired employees, and corporators has been set at Rs 4,586, encouraging participation from all segments of the community. This move aligns with the BMC’s commitment to enhancing the city’s recreational infrastructure and promoting a healthier lifestyle for its residents.
