The forms were reportedly found on September 4 at Urdu School No. 31 in Bhayandar West, several weeks after August 17, the stated deadline for submitting enumeration forms under the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The forms were allegedly in the possession of sanitation worker Nisha Kiran Jadhav, according to a report by Loksatta.
The discovery has raised questions about the handling of documents collected during the voter-list revision exercise. The forms are used to collect voter information and verify entries against earlier electoral rolls. Under the process, completed forms collected from residents were expected to be submitted to the concerned election machinery within the specified period.
Local resident Tejaswi Patil has sought an inquiry into how the forms came to be at the school after the deadline had passed. The complaint also seeks clarification on the number of forms involved, whether they were completed or blank, and under whose instructions they were handed to or kept with the sanitation worker.
Patil has requested that the forms be taken into official custody immediately and that a report be prepared on the circumstances in which they were found. Election authorities, however, have disputed the claim that the forms had gone missing or were outside the control of the designated election staff. Electoral Registration Officer Nitin Chavan said the forms had not gone anywhere and were in the custody of the Booth Level Officer assigned to the process. He added that an inquiry was being conducted because a complaint had been received.
