Bengaluru Road Accidents Kill Two, Injure Family of Four

Two separate road accidents in Bengaluru killed two people, including a travel agency owner, and injured four others, police said in a report published by Prajavani on Monday. The crashes took place on NICE Road and near Hope Farm on Channasandra Road.

Ramesh Kumar, 44, died after the car he was driving collided with a lorry on NICE Road while he was returning to the city with his family in the early hours. Police said he suffered severe injuries and died at the scene.

Kumar lived with his family in Jalahalli and operated a travel agency. He had travelled to Tamil Nadu by car with his wife and three children. His wife and the three children were injured in the collision and were taken to hospital for treatment, according to the report.

The accident was reported under the jurisdiction of the Kengeri Traffic Police Station. The police account said Kumar’s car struck the lorry that was travelling ahead of it. The report did not provide details about the condition of the lorry driver, the exact cause of the collision beyond the impact, or whether any other vehicle was involved.

In a separate crash near Hope Farm on Channasandra Road, a motorbike rider was killed after a collision with an Eicher vehicle on Sunday evening. The deceased was identified as Bhagyaraj, 48, a native of Tamil Nadu who lived near Hoodi in Bengaluru.

Bhagyaraj worked as a goods vehicle driver and was travelling on his motorcycle for personal work when the vehicle hit him from behind, the report said. He died in the crash. The Mahadevapura Traffic Police registered a case in connection with the incident.

The two cases involved different locations and vehicles but occurred within Bengaluru’s wider road network, which carries a mix of private cars, motorcycles and goods vehicles. The reported injuries to Kumar’s family and the fatality involving Bhagyaraj underline the risks faced by both passengers and two-wheeler users when high-speed or heavier vehicles share urban corridors.

The police cases at Kengeri and Mahadevapura will determine the circumstances recorded in each crash. The source report did not state whether arrests had been made, whether traffic violations were established, or whether any road-engineering changes were planned at either location.
