The Karnataka government has appointed Shilpa Nag C.T. as the new commissioner of the Bengaluru city corporation as part of a wider transfer of Indian Administrative Service officers announced on Friday. The order also assigns new officials to the state’s school education, housing, panchayat raj and regional development departments.
According to the order issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Shilpa Nag C.T., who was serving in the Greater Bengaluru Authority, has been transferred and appointed commissioner of the Bengaluru city corporation. The order does not specify the tenure or list additional responsibilities attached to the post.
The appointment comes as part of a broader reshuffle involving several senior officers. Suralkar Vikas Kishore, who was commissioner of the School Education Department, has been transferred as commissioner of the Backward Classes Welfare Department. The additional charge of school education commissioner has been assigned to K. Vidyakumari, the state project director of Samagra Shikshana Karnataka.
K.A. Dayanand has been appointed commissioner of the Karnataka Housing Board again. Venkat Raja has been given responsibility as commissioner of the Panchayat Raj Department. The order also transfers Shinde Avinash Sanjeevan, who was commissioner of the Kalaburagi City Corporation, to the Kalyana Karnataka Area Development Board.
For Bengaluru, the change places the city corporation’s administration under an officer who was serving in the Greater Bengaluru Authority. The order identifies the appointment but, as reported by Prajavani, does not provide details on an accompanying administrative roadmap, specific civic projects or changes to the corporation’s existing responsibilities.
The reshuffle covers institutions with responsibilities extending from municipal administration and housing to rural local governance and regional development. The Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms issued the order, while the immediate operational priorities and the date on which the new assignments take effect were not specified in the report.
