BBMP Seals Mantri Square Mall Over Rs 50 Crore Tax Debacle

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), accompanied by enforcement Marshals, executed the sealing of Mantri Square mall in Malleswaram, citing alleged non-payment of tax arrears amounting to a staggering Rs 50 crores.

This decisive action comes as a culmination of the persistent fiscal delinquency of the commercial establishment. Despite a prior legal intercession granting temporary reprieve, the resumption of normal operations was short-lived. Revenue authorities of the BBMP underscored the mall’s failure to fulfil its financial obligations, specifically in property tax, prompting the civic body to serve a stern closure notice. Concurrently, the management was directed to cease operations forthwith, further compounded by the suspension of trade licenses until further directives.

This development underscores the robust enforcement measures undertaken by municipal authorities to uphold fiscal discipline and ensure compliance within the business ecosystem. The BBMP’s uncompromising stance reflects its commitment to safeguarding public revenues and maintaining regulatory integrity. The closure of Mantri Square mall sends reverberations throughout the commercial landscape, accentuating the imperative for diligent adherence to statutory obligations and prudent fiscal management practices within the business domain.
