Western Railway will operate a Bandra-Palitana special train from Mumbai on September 6 to meet increased passenger demand, while extending selected special services from Mumbai Central to Ahmedabad and Indore through November.
Train 09023 will depart from Bandra Terminus at 7:25 pm on September 6 and reach Palitana at 9:25 am the following day. The return service, train 09024, will leave Palitana at 8 pm on September 7 and arrive at Bandra Terminus at 9:30 am on September 8.
The special service will stop at Borivali, Vapi, Valsad, Surat, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad, Botad, Dhola, Songadh and Sihor. Western Railway said the train will include sleeper-class and general second-class coaches. Special fares will apply to the service, according to the announcement reported by Loksatta.
The service has been scheduled for two trips, covering the onward and return journeys between Mumbai and Palitana. The route will provide an additional rail option for passengers travelling between Mumbai, Gujarat and the Saurashtra region during a period of increased demand.
Western Railway has also extended the operating period of the Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad special train. Its trips will now run through November 25 and 26, respectively. On the Mumbai Central-Indore route, trains 09079 and 09080 have been extended through November 29 and 30, respectively. Services numbered 09085 and 09086 will run through November 27 and 28, respectively.
Reservations for the special trains are available at railway reservation centres and through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation website, Western Railway said.
