Asarwa-Prayagraj Special Train Adds 24 Stops for Diwali Travel

Western Railway has announced an Asarwa–Prayagraj special train for the Diwali and festival travel season, with services planned between Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh from October 21 to November 26, according to a report by Gujarat Samachar. The train is expected to provide additional capacity for passengers travelling from Ahmedabad and neighbouring areas towards Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and destinations along the route.

The Asarwa–Prayagraj Special, numbered 04166, is scheduled to leave Asarwa at 8.45 am every Thursday from October 22 to November 26 and reach Prayagraj at 10.35 am the following day. The return service, numbered 04165, is scheduled to depart from Prayagraj at 5 am every Wednesday from October 21 to November 25 and arrive at Asarwa at 5.45 am the next day.

The source report lists 24 intermediate stoppages in both directions. These are Himatnagar, Lusadiya, Dungarpur, Semari, Jawar, Udaipur City, Rana Pratap Nagar, Mavli Junction, Chittorgarh (Chanderiya), Mandalgarh, Bundi, Keshorai Patan, Sawai Madhopur, Gangapur City, Hindaun City, Bayana, Rupbas, Fatehpur Sikri, Idgah Agra, Tundla, Firozabad, Etawah, Kanpur Central and Fatehpur.

The listed stoppages connect the service with cities and towns across Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. For passengers, the additional service could offer an alternative during the period when demand for long-distance rail travel generally rises around Diwali, although the source does not provide the train’s fare structure, coach composition beyond the listed classes, or seat availability.

The train will have Third AC, Sleeper Class and General Second Class coaches, the report said. Ticket bookings for train number 04166 are scheduled to begin on October 19 through passenger reservation system counters and the IRCTC website. The source does not separately specify the opening date for bookings on the return service.

The report contains a schedule discrepancy that requires confirmation from Western Railway or an official railway timetable before publication as a confirmed operating plan. It describes the service as making 12 trips in both directions, but the dates listed for the Asarwa service show five Thursday departures—October 22, October 29, November 5, November 12 and November 19, with November 26 also included depending on the interpretation of the stated period. The Prayagraj service is listed for Wednesdays from October 21 through November 25. The exact number of trips and whether November 26 is included in the outbound count should therefore be checked against the railway’s official notification.

Until that clarification is obtained, passengers should verify the final timetable, booking status, coach availability and stoppages on the official Indian Railways or IRCTC platforms before planning travel. The announced booking date is October 19, subject to confirmation by the railway authorities.
