Ahmedabad remained the hottest city in Gujarat as extreme summer conditions continued to grip the state, reinforcing concerns over urban heat stress, public health risks and climate resilience in one of India’s fastest-growing metropolitan regions.
The city recorded a maximum temperature exceeding 43°C, maintaining its position among the most heat-affected urban centres in western India. Although temperatures moderated slightly from the previous day’s peak, hot winds and intense solar exposure continued to disrupt daily life, particularly for outdoor workers, commuters and vulnerable populations. The Ahmedabad heatwave comes amid broader climatic instability across Gujarat, where prolonged dry conditions and elevated temperatures have increased pressure on public infrastructure, energy demand and health systems.
