Two separate hit-and-run crashes in Ahmedabad have killed a 21-year-old SVP Hospital fire department worker in Paldi and a 23-year-old woman travelling to work near Shilaj on the S.P. Ring Road, with police searching for the drivers involved in both cases.
The first crash took place at around 4 pm on November 2 near Kochrab village in Paldi. According to the report, a black car travelling at high speed struck the 21-year-old man outside Safal Vidyalaya. He died at the scene. The victim was from Moti Sarsan village in Mahisagar district and worked in the fire department of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Hospital in Ahmedabad.
The car driver allegedly left without stopping to assist the injured man. The report said a woman was present in the car and another young man was driving it at the time of the crash. On the basis of the complaint, M Division Traffic Police began searching for a driver identified as Rahul Thakor. The victim’s relatives travelled to Ahmedabad after being informed of the incident.
The second fatal crash occurred on November 3 near Shilaj on the S.P. Ring Road. Rupali Shaileshbhai Salariya, 23, was travelling by moped to her workplace when she was hit by a truck, according to the complaint filed with A Division Traffic Police by her elder brother, Jeminbhai Salariya.
Rupali worked at a laboratory in the Science City area. The report said she had been staying at her fiancé Ravi’s home for the previous three months. Police have begun investigating the case based on the complaint and are looking into the circumstances of the collision and the truck involved.
The two cases involve different road settings within Ahmedabad: a local road near Kochrab village and a major ring-road stretch near Shilaj. In both incidents, the victims were travelling through the city’s road network when the crashes occurred, while the police investigations remain focused on identifying or tracing the drivers.
Police have registered cases in both incidents and are continuing their search for the drivers. Further details about the vehicles, the exact sequence of events and any arrests are expected to emerge as the investigations proceed.
