Ahmedabad Fire Destroys 25 Vehicles Behind Dani Limda Police Station

A fire behind Dani Limda Police Station in Ahmedabad destroyed an estimated 20 to 25 vehicles on the afternoon of October 24, including vehicles seized by police in different cases, according to a report by Gujarat Samachar. No deaths or injuries were reported, and the fire was brought under control after the fire brigade reached the premises.

The fire broke out in a compound at the rear of the police station where seized vehicles and other parked vehicles were kept. Smoke was reportedly seen emerging from the area during the afternoon, after which the flames spread rapidly through the vehicles parked there.

The preliminary suspicion is that a short circuit may have caused the fire. The cause has not been established conclusively, and the Dani Limda police have begun an investigation. A formal complaint has also been recorded in connection with the incident.

Police staff and local residents initially attempted to control the fire with water while the fire brigade was alerted. Fire personnel later reached the site and carried out operations to extinguish the flames. The fire was eventually brought under complete control, according to the report.

The vehicles damaged in the incident reportedly included police-seized vehicles as well as vehicles belonging to police staff and members of the public who had visited the station for official work. The exact number and ownership of the vehicles have not yet been formally confirmed. Authorities are currently carrying out an assessment and verification of the damaged vehicles.

The destruction of seized vehicles may also affect records and case-related property management, although the supplied report does not specify which cases the vehicles were linked to or whether any documents were damaged. It also does not state whether the vehicles were insured or identify the estimated value of the loss.

The Forensic Science Laboratory has been asked to assist with determining the actual cause of the fire. The investigation and the official counting and verification of the damaged vehicles remain ongoing.
