Adilabad Industrial Park Gets 1,500 Acres as Land Talks Continue

The Telangana government’s proposed Adilabad industrial park has moved closer to land acquisition, with revenue officials identifying nearly 1,500 acres of non-agricultural land in Bhoraj mandal, while discussions with affected farmers continue over compensation and ownership concerns.

The industrial park is proposed across land in Rampur (T), Gimma (B) and Hattighat villages in Bhoraj mandal. The total area proposed for the project is 2,062.01 acres, according to official information cited in the report.

Adilabad collector Rajarshi Shah recently met farmers from the affected villages and assured them that land acquired for the industrial park would receive fair compensation. The discussions come as district authorities seek to distinguish land considered unsuitable for agriculture from land that may require acquisition from existing owners.

Adilabad BJP MLA Payal Shankar said revenue officials had so far identified around 1,500 acres that were unsuitable for agricultural use. The administration has not indicated in the report when the remaining land required for the project will be identified or when acquisition proceedings will begin across all proposed parcels.

The land identified for acquisition includes 259.23 acres in Guda, 333.38 acres in Rampur (T), 275.089 acres in Gimma (B) and 1,149.11 acres in Hattighat. The figures indicate that Hattighat accounts for the largest share of the land proposed for the industrial park. The report does not specify the final industrial use planned for each parcel or the number of affected landowners.

Collector Shah also clarified that only 47.22 acres attached by the Enforcement Directorate is to be acquired for the industrial park. The ED had attached the land belonging to GS Biotech after registering a case against the company. The clarification addresses the status of that parcel as authorities proceed with planning for the proposed project.

The land identification has also triggered political objections. Opposition leaders have questioned the proposed acquisition and alleged that some of the identified land belongs to benamis of political leaders. These allegations were reported without details of specific parcels or documentary evidence, and no response from the individuals allegedly connected to the land was included in the report.

Alongside the industrial park discussions, the district administration has directed officials to distribute compensation for 487 acres already acquired from people who will be displaced by the Korata-Chanaka barrage. The state government has sanctioned ₹70 crore for compensating those affected by the barrage project.

The two processes place compensation and land records at the centre of Adilabad’s ongoing infrastructure and industrial development. For the industrial park, the next steps will depend on the completion of land identification, acquisition decisions and compensation proceedings. For the barrage, officials have been directed to proceed with compensation distribution for the acquired land.
