The Adani Group has clinched two contracts valued at INR 13,888 crore for installation of smart meters in Maharashtra. The contracts were awarded by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDC) as part of its ongoing efforts to modernise the electricity distribution system.
MSEDC disclosed that a total of six tenders were issued for the installation of smart meters, with the Adani Group emerging as a key player in this transformative initiative. The group, which recently secured INR 1,000 crore contract to deploy smart meters in Mumbai’s Best Undertaking, will serve as an advanced metering infrastructure service provider for smart prepaid metering.
The contracts awarded to Adani are cover two zones. The first zone encompasses Bhandup, Kalyan and Konkan, with a total of 63.44 lakh meters to be installed. The second zone comprises Baramati and Pune, involving installation of 52.45 lakh meters.
These latest wins will position Adani as the largest smart meter supplier in India. The MSEDC’s smart metering initiative aims to enhance efficiency and accuracy of electricity consumption measurement while providing consumers with real-time data on their electricity usage. These smart meters are expected to bring greater convenience to consumers.
