Mumbai Metro 3 is all set to transform urban commuting in the city as the Jagannath Shankar Seth Metro Station nears completion. Located within the Mumbai Central railway complex, the station promises seamless interchange with the suburban rail network, significantly enhancing north–south connectivity and reducing travel time across Mumbai.
Officials from the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) shared exclusive images of the fully constructed station ahead of the grand inauguration of Metro 3’s final stretch, scheduled for October 8. The Colaba–Bandra–SEEPZ Aqua Line, spanning 33.5 km, will become the city’s first fully underground metro corridor. This modern infrastructure is expected to alleviate road congestion, promote greener travel, and provide commuters with faster, hassle-free journeys. The station’s design includes multiple entry and exit points, enabling smooth passenger flow and easy access to the Mumbai Central suburban railway. A train approaching Santacruz station experienced a technical fault at 2:44 pm, prompting the immediate evacuation of all passengers. MMRC confirmed that no injuries occurred and reiterated that passenger safety remains its highest priority. The incident was swiftly addressed, reflecting the corporation’s preparedness for emergency scenarios on the fully underground corridor.
