Hyderabad Vande Bharat Express Trains Get Revised Schedules From December 4
Hyderabad: The Indian Railways has announced a revision of schedules for four Vande Bharat Express trains under the South Central Railway (SCR) zone, effective from 4 December 2025. The decision, approved by the Railway Board, seeks to balance operational efficiency with passenger convenience, especially for the high-demand routes connecting Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
The schedule changes apply to the Kacheguda–Yesvantpur, Yesvantpur–Kacheguda, Secunderabad–Visakhapatnam, and Visakhapatnam–Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express services. Officials emphasised that the adjustments have been made to streamline turnaround times and ensure better utilisation of rolling stock, while also addressing passenger demand patterns during peak travel days.
For passengers on the Kacheguda–Yesvantpur and Yesvantpur–Kacheguda routes, the trains will now operate daily except Fridays, replacing their earlier weekly non-operational day of Wednesday. This subtle shift is aimed at meeting weekend demand while reducing scheduling conflicts within the SCR zone. Similarly, the Secunderabad–Visakhapatnam and Visakhapatnam–Secunderabad services will be available daily except Mondays, instead of skipping Thursdays as they currently do.According to railway officials, these adjustments were made after detailed ridership analysis and are expected to reduce bottlenecks across southern corridors, where passenger load has been consistently increasing. The changes will also improve predictability for daily commuters and long-distance travellers who often rely on the premium Vande Bharat network.
The move reflects the Indian Railways’ larger strategy of enhancing sustainable mobility solutions while modernising train services. The Vande Bharat Express, with its faster speeds and energy-efficient technology, has been positioned as a symbol of next-generation green mobility. By synchronising timetables more effectively, the SCR zone is not only improving service quality but also reducing operational inefficiencies that indirectly contribute to higher emissions.Transport experts point out that smart scheduling is as crucial as infrastructure investment when it comes to low-carbon mobility. Better utilisation of trains means fewer idle hours, optimised energy use, and more predictable services for passengers.
For cities like Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Bengaluru, where urban transport struggles with congestion and carbon emissions, improved railway scheduling could indirectly support climate-friendly urban mobility by drawing more passengers away from private transport modes. While the revised timings may require some adjustment for frequent travellers, the overall benefits of reliability, efficiency, and eco-friendly operations are expected to outweigh the inconvenience. Officials noted that further refinements could follow depending on passenger feedback, highlighting that the timetable will remain under review as the network expands. This scheduling update underlines the Railways’ commitment to shaping an inclusive, sustainable and passenger-oriented transport ecosystem, where operational decisions are closely tied to the long-term goals of green growth and equitable urban development.
