Navi Mumbai’s real estate landscape, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has announced the conversion of residential plots from leasehold to freehold status. This pivotal policy shift, applicable to plots allotted through various schemes including tender processes and CIDCO-constructed housing projects, is set to empower thousands of property owners with absolute ownership rights, fostering greater market liquidity and long-term investment confidence in this meticulously planned city.

Historically, properties in Navi Mumbai were predominantly offered on a leasehold basis, with CIDCO retaining ultimate ownership of the land. The transition to freehold status eliminates the need for periodic lease renewals and the associated bureaucratic processes, providing homeowners with complete autonomy over their assets.
