Gurgaon Road Projects Stalled by Land Disputes

Crucial infrastructure works in Gurgaon’s new sectors remain stalled due to unresolved land acquisition and legal hurdles. Several planned roads, drainage networks, and sewer systems are delayed, affecting connectivity between Southern Peripheral Road and other key junctions. Residents who moved into the area years ago remain deprived of basic civic infrastructure, as the region grapples with both bureaucratic delays and legal disputes.

Residents in Gurgaon’s new sectors are growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of progress on road construction and civic infrastructure. A critical missing 380-metre stretch between Sectors 72 and 72A continues to delay the completion of a master road link meant to connect Southern Peripheral Road with Hero Honda Chowk. Officials say about 4.11 acres of land need to be acquired to make this link functional.

Meanwhile, progress has been made on some fronts. A 5.9-acre parcel between Sectors 71 and 73 was recently secured, allowing plans for a 350-metre road to move forward. An estimated cost of Rs 2.2 crore has already been prepared for the project, with tenders expected soon. However, without resolving the 72–72A stretch, seamless mobility across the zone remains a distant goal, say officials involved in the process.

The infrastructure challenges extend beyond roads. In Sector 70A, a pending 50-metre land parcel is holding up sewer line work. Similarly, a 70-metre section between Sectors 102 and 103 and an 80-metre stretch between Sectors 81 and 81A are delaying the installation of drainage and sewage networks. These missing links have led to repeated waterlogging complaints, especially during the monsoon season.

Adding to the delays, legal disputes are hampering progress on key road segments. Ongoing litigation has stalled projects between Sectors 82 and 85 and another between Sectors 86 and 90. Both stretches were designed to support roads and underground infrastructure. Officials stated they are preparing cost estimates and remain in close coordination with the urban development authority to secure land and clear legal barriers.

The delay in executing key road and drainage works has left several of Gurgaon’s developing sectors without basic connectivity and essential services. Despite incremental progress, gaps in land acquisition and legal challenges continue to obstruct long-awaited improvements. Residents and local bodies alike are urging swift action, hoping for accelerated clearances and timely construction to address years of infrastructural neglect and improve urban mobility in these zones.
