Najafgarh Garment Factory Fire Draws 25 Delhi Fire Vehicles

A fire broke out at a garment factory in Nangli Sakrawati in Delhi’s Najafgarh area at 4:22 pm on Sunday, prompting the deployment of 25 Delhi Fire Service vehicles, according to information released by the fire department.

The blaze was reported at the factory in Nangli Sakrawati, and fire crews were sent to the site to contain it. The Delhi Fire Service said cooling operations were continuing and that the situation was under control.

The scale of the response reflects the operational requirements of tackling a fire at a garment facility, where stored fabrics and other materials can sustain flames and generate heat even after the main fire is contained. The supplied report did not provide details on the cause of the fire, the extent of damage or whether anyone was injured.

A fire service official said extensive preparations had been made for safety at the site. The department’s response included 25 fire vehicles, with crews continuing the cooling process after the active firefighting operation.

The incident comes as the Delhi Fire Service is also preparing for the Diwali period. Fire officer Rajinder Atwal said the department makes extensive arrangements for Diwali and the preceding day every year. According to the information cited in the report, Delhi currently has 71 operational fire stations, along with 50 quick-response vehicles and 20 first-responder motorcycles deployed for emergency coverage.

The official also said water tenders had been kept on standby at 15 locations and that the department was prepared to respond to emergency calls. He appealed to residents to celebrate Diwali safely. The next immediate step at the Najafgarh site is the completion of cooling operations by the responding fire crews.
