Delhi Car Theft: Former Mayor’s Creta Stolen Outside Patel Nagar Home

A Hyundai Creta registered in the name of former Delhi BJP president and former mayor Aadesh Gupta’s son was stolen outside the family’s home in West Patel Nagar early Saturday, with police examining CCTV footage to identify the four suspects involved in the incident.

According to the complaint filed with police, Gupta’s car was usually parked outside his residence in the Patel Nagar area. When the family checked outside at about 5:40 am on Saturday, the vehicle was missing. CCTV footage from the surrounding area showed a white Creta arriving with four people inside.

The footage showed two of the suspects getting out of the vehicle after waiting for some time. They allegedly opened the lock of the Creta parked outside Gupta’s home, got inside and drove it away. The other two suspects left in the white Creta used to reach the area, according to the report.

Police have registered a first information report based on the complaint and are reviewing CCTV recordings from the location and nearby roads. Investigators are tracing the route taken by the stolen vehicle and attempting to establish the identities of the suspects.

The case has also drawn attention because the same car was allegedly targeted in an earlier theft attempt about a month ago. That attempt was unsuccessful, but Gupta had filed a complaint at Patel Nagar police station at the time. Police are now examining whether the latest incident is connected to the earlier attempt.

Investigators are also checking the registration and ownership details of the vehicle used by the suspects. They are examining whether that Creta was itself stolen and whether the people involved are linked to an organised vehicle-theft network.

The incident highlights the operational challenge faced by police in investigating vehicle thefts in dense residential areas, where suspects can use nearby roads and multiple vehicles to leave the scene quickly. In this case, CCTV footage from the house and surrounding routes is expected to form a key part of the investigation.

The stolen Creta is registered in the name of Gupta’s son, Yash Gupta. Police have not announced any arrests in connection with the case. The investigation remains focused on identifying the suspects, tracking the stolen vehicle and determining whether the earlier attempted theft and the latest incident were carried out by the same group.
