Parking Dispute Turns Fatal After 15-Shot Attack in Sector 21C

A 42-year-old man working with a private company in Singapore was allegedly shot dead by his neighbour after a dispute over parking in Sector 21C, police said. The accused allegedly fired around 15 rounds from a licensed pistol on Friday night, with nine bullets hitting the victim, identified as Paramjeet Dhankhar.

Dhankhar died at the spot, police said. The main accused, identified as Monu Sharma, has been arrested. Police recovered cartridge cases from the scene after reaching the building following information from Dhankhar’s son, Shaurya.

According to police, Dhankhar’s family lived on the first floor of the building, while Sharma lived on the third floor. The families had previously argued over the parking of vehicles and a dog defecating in the parking lot, police said.

The immediate confrontation took place after Dhankhar returned from the gym on Friday night and asked Sharma to move his car from its designated parking spot. Sharma allegedly opened fire at him following the exchange, police said.

Police said the accused fled with his family after the shooting. The recovery of cartridge cases and the arrest of the main accused form part of the ongoing investigation into the incident. The police account identifies the parking arrangement and earlier disputes between the two families as the circumstances preceding the shooting.

Dhankhar lived in Singapore and had arrived in India on November 5 to celebrate Diwali with his family. He was also scheduled to attend his nephew’s wedding on November 24. The incident has brought a fatal outcome to a dispute that began in the shared parking area of a residential building, where vehicle access and designated spaces had become a source of conflict between neighbours.
