Lucknow College Swimming Pool Death Triggers FIR Against Four

Police in Lucknow have registered an FIR against four personnel of CMET College after merchant navy student Sudhanshu Tiwari died from injuries he allegedly sustained after falling into the institution’s swimming pool.

The FIR was registered late on Friday by Bakshi Ka Talab police on a complaint filed by Tiwari’s father, Navnath Tiwari, a resident of Gauriganj in Amethi. The complaint accused four college personnel of negligence and sought an investigation into the circumstances in which the student was injured.

The four people named in the complaint are identified as Dr Subesh, Azam Khan, Babar Khan and Pankaj Mishra. The police case concerns the circumstances surrounding the incident and does not by itself establish criminal liability.

According to the complaint, Sudhanshu had enrolled at CMET College in Rampur Behra on July 1, 2026. On the night of July 19, a person from the college informed his family that his condition had deteriorated after he fell into the swimming pool and suffered injuries. He was subsequently admitted to a trauma centre.

When Navnath reached the hospital, he found the four college personnel there, the report said. By then, Sudhanshu had slipped into a coma. He remained in that condition for 22 days before succumbing to his injuries.

The case places the focus on the circumstances under which the student entered or fell into the swimming pool, the response after the incident and the information communicated to his family. The supplied report does not provide details about the pool’s operating arrangements, supervision, safety equipment, emergency response or whether any internal inquiry was conducted by the college.

Bakshi Ka Talab inspector Sanjay Singh confirmed that an FIR had been lodged. The police investigation will determine the sequence of events and examine the allegations made in the complaint. No further investigative findings or arrests were reported in the supplied account.
