Hyderabad flight schedules were affected by low visibility at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Friday, prompting IndiGo to issue a travel advisory and ask passengers to check their flight status before travelling.
The airline said in a post on X that adverse morning weather conditions over Hyderabad had impacted flight operations. IndiGo said it was continuously monitoring the situation and working to help passengers reach their destinations safely.
“Low visibility over #Hyderabad has impacted flight schedules. We are closely monitoring the weather and doing our best to get you where you need to be, safely and smoothly,” the airline said. It asked passengers to use its official flight-status page for the latest updates.
IndiGo also said its airport and customer-service teams were available to assist travellers affected by the disruption. The airline requested passengers to remain updated on their individual flight status and said it expected operations to return to the regular schedule as weather conditions improved.
The India Meteorological Department forecast a partly cloudy sky over Hyderabad on Friday, with the possibility of rain, thunderstorms or dust storms. For the following two days, the IMD forecast similar conditions, including the possibility of rain, thunderstorms or dust storms. It also forecast partly cloudy skies with haze in Hyderabad from November 9 to 12.
Low visibility can affect the movement of aircraft at airports by reducing the conditions available for safe take-offs and landings. The immediate operational impact can include delays to departures and arrivals, changes to aircraft schedules and longer waiting times for passengers. The airline’s advisory did not provide a consolidated number of delayed or cancelled flights.
Passengers travelling through Rajiv Gandhi International Airport were advised to verify their flight status directly with IndiGo before leaving for the airport. The airline’s advisory also asked travellers to monitor updates as weather conditions and operating schedules changed.
The disruption comes after a separate weather-related air-connectivity issue at Vijayawada Airport earlier in the week. IndiGo cancelled eight flights scheduled for November 3 to and from Vijayawada as a precautionary measure during Cyclone Murasu, according to information shared by the airport’s public relations officer. The cancellations involved seven domestic services and one international service connecting Vijayawada with destinations including Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kadapa and Singapore.
For Hyderabad passengers, IndiGo’s next operational step is to continue monitoring visibility and provide flight-specific updates through its official status service and airport teams. Travellers have been asked to check their schedules before proceeding to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.
