Noida has designated three locations where licensed vendors will sell green crackers on November 7 and 8, with more than 100 temporary shops being planned and sales permitted only before sunset, according to the Noida Police Commissionerate.
The approved sales locations are the Ramlila ground in Sector 62, the Ramlila ground in Sector 46 and the kabaddi ground near Garhi Gol Chakkar in Central Noida. The police said applications for temporary shops were continuing to come in. Vendors will be allowed to operate only after obtaining temporary licences and the required clearances.
A no-objection certificate from the Noida Authority and the fire department will be mandatory before a shop can be set up. The relevant deputy commissioners of police will issue temporary licences after the required approvals. Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar Chaubey said applications were being assessed and no-objection certificates were being issued according to prescribed safety standards.
The arrangements currently cover Noida, while no application for a cracker-sale licence had been received in Greater Noida at the time of the report. The distinction is significant for residents because sales locations and licensing procedures are being managed separately across the wider Gautam Buddh Nagar urban region.
Police said only licensed vendors would be permitted to sell green crackers at the designated locations. The storage, sale or transportation of crackers without a licence will invite action. Fire services will remain on alert for incidents such as fires, with fire tenders to be positioned as required near major markets, malls, densely populated areas and the approved cracker-sale sites.
The emergency arrangements also extend to healthcare facilities. The Government Institute of Medical Sciences in Kasna has reserved 50 beds to handle possible Diwali-related emergencies. Doctors in the emergency and main wards have been placed on alert, while teams of 10 to 12 doctors are scheduled to be available during the morning and evening shifts. Residents can contact 9643840096 in an emergency, according to the report.
The enforcement plan comes as Noida markets experience increased festive activity. Buyers have been visiting Sector 18 markets, malls, shopping complexes and large shops in village areas. Traders expect approximately Rs 2,000 crore in business during the five-day festive period covering Dhanteras, Diwali and Bhai Dooj, with demand reported to be strong for automobiles, jewellery, mobile phones and electronics.
Police have asked residents to report any suspicious person or object to the emergency number 112. The designated sales locations, licensing requirements, fire clearances and hospital preparedness measures are scheduled to remain the key public-safety arrangements as Noida prepares for the two-day green-cracker sales window.
