The Bihar health department is preparing to recruit more than 11,000 staff for public health facilities across the state, with the State Health Society, Bihar likely to issue the official notification in the last week of November. The recruitment will cover medical support, technical, administrative and clerical roles.
SHSB executive director Naval Kishor Choudhary said on Wednesday that preparations for the recruitment process were in the final stages. According to an official release, the detailed recruitment calendar will be issued after the department receives the necessary approvals.
The State Health Society is collecting updated vacancy data from all 38 districts. The exercise covers district hospitals, sub-divisional hospitals, primary health centres and community health centres, allowing the department to map vacancies before finalising the recruitment schedule.
The first phase will include staff nurses, laboratory technicians, block health managers, managerial personnel, non-medical establishment staff and clerical employees. Recruitment for other categories will be taken up in a second phase, Choudhary said.
The planned appointments are intended to address manpower shortages from the district level to the panchayat level. The department said additional staff would support doctors and paramedical personnel, particularly at facilities serving rural and remote areas.
The recruitment could also affect the functioning of several parts of the public health system. Nurses and laboratory technicians are expected to strengthen patient care and diagnostic services, while block health managers and clerical personnel would support the implementation and monitoring of government health schemes. The department also expects the appointments to reduce the workload on existing personnel at district and sub-divisional hospitals.
The hiring process will include selection, document verification and the issuance of appointment letters. Choudhary said the department aims to complete the entire process within six to seven months of the notification being released.
The recruitment calendar will be released after formal approval, while the final number and distribution of posts will follow the updated vacancy data being collected from health facilities across Bihar.
