Ahmedabad Parking Charges Set to Double for Two-Wheelers After 10 Years

Ahmedabad parking charges are set to rise after 10 years, with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s Estate Committee proposing a new hourly rate of ₹10 for two-wheelers, up from ₹5. The revised rates will take effect only after approval from the AMC Standing Committee.

Under the proposal, four-wheeler parking charges will increase from ₹15 to ₹20 per hour. The Estate Committee has also fixed a proposed rate of ₹15 per hour for three-wheelers. The revised charges are intended to apply at municipal parking locations across Ahmedabad once the required approval is secured.

The proposal marks the first revision of Ahmedabad’s municipal parking fees in a decade. During this period, the existing hourly rates remained unchanged for different vehicle categories. The Estate Committee has now recommended separate charges based on the type of vehicle using the parking facility.

For two-wheeler users, the proposed revision would result in a 100 per cent increase in the hourly fee, from ₹5 to ₹10. The proposed four-wheeler rate represents an increase of ₹5 per hour, while the three-wheeler charge has been set at ₹15 per hour under the new schedule.

The revised rates are not yet operational. The AMC Standing Committee must approve the Estate Committee’s decision before the new charges can be collected. Until that approval is granted, the existing rates remain the applicable charges at municipal parking sites.

Once the Standing Committee gives its approval, motorists using the affected AMC parking locations will be required to pay according to the revised vehicle-wise schedule. The source report does not specify the date of the Standing Committee’s consideration or whether the proposed rates will apply uniformly to every municipal parking facility in the city.
