Pune Railway Station has introduced five luggage scanners, 19 Door Frame Metal Detectors and separate passenger entry and exit routes as the Pune Division of Central Railway reorganises movement at three major access points.
The revised arrangement covers the station’s main entrance, Chhatri Gate and the Tadiwala Road side. Passengers have been instructed to use designated gates for entry and follow prescribed exit routes while leaving the premises. Unauthorised access points have also been shut.
At Chhatri Gate, a separate entry route has been created for passengers travelling towards platforms 1 to 6. Passengers leaving the station will use a different passage, keeping incoming and outgoing crowds apart at the access point.
The railway administration said the changes are intended to strengthen security checks and manage the growing passenger footfall at the station. The five luggage scanners will be used to examine bags and other belongings, while the 19 metal detector frames will support screening of passengers entering the premises.
The separation of entry and exit movement is also aimed at reducing congestion during busy travel periods. By directing passengers through fixed routes, the administration expects to make movement more orderly and improve surveillance across the station.
The changes place greater emphasis on controlled access, rather than allowing passengers to enter through multiple informal routes. For commuters, this means that access to the station may depend on the designated route for their platform or direction of movement.
Railway officials have asked passengers to cooperate with security personnel during checks and follow instructions at the entry and exit points. The revised layout and screening arrangements are now being implemented across the three identified access points.
