Cyberabad Police Push Early Logout Plan as Rain Threatens Traffic

Cyberabad Police have asked IT companies and other organisations to stagger employee logout timings from 2 pm and preferably complete the process by 4 pm from Tuesday to Thursday, as moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast across the area. The advisory is aimed at reducing traffic congestion, limiting travel-related risks and keeping emergency routes moving during periods of adverse weather.

Issued on Tuesday, the advisory requests companies in Cyberabad to allow employees to leave offices in phases over the three-day period. The police said the measure would help ease pressure on the road network during the afternoon and late evening hours, when rainfall has been forecast.

The advisory also asks organisations to consider work-from-home arrangements for employees during these three days. Companies that can shift part of their workforce away from office-based work have been encouraged to use the option as an alternative to commuting through potentially difficult weather and traffic conditions.

Cyberabad is one of Hyderabad’s largest employment and commercial zones, with major concentrations of technology companies and other workplaces. A large number of employees travelling out of offices within a narrow time window can place additional pressure on arterial roads and junctions. By seeking an earlier and staggered dispersal, the police are attempting to spread travel demand before rainfall-related disruptions intensify.

The police said the plan is also intended to support business continuity and facilitate the uninterrupted movement of emergency services. Rain-related congestion can affect more than routine office commutes, particularly when emergency vehicles have to navigate roads carrying heavy peak-hour traffic.

Organisations have been requested to share their office locations and proposed early logout timings with the Cyberabad Traffic Police by email at cybtrcc@gmail.com. The information will be used to help the traffic police make necessary arrangements for traffic management during the forecast period.

The advisory applies between Tuesday and Thursday, with companies asked to complete the staggered logout process preferably by 4 pm on each of the three days. The police have not announced a mandatory closure of offices; instead, the communication seeks cooperation from organisations through phased departures and work-from-home arrangements where feasible.
