Pune Rainfall Peaks at 41.1 mm as IMD Forecasts More Showers

Pune rainfall varied sharply across the city and district in the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on November 2, with Shivajinagar recording 41.1 mm, Hadapsar 35.5 mm and Lohgaon 36.2 mm, while the India Meteorological Department forecast light rain in Pune and its neighbourhood over the next two days.

Baramati recorded the highest rainfall in the district at 77.2 mm during the reporting period. Ambegaon received 49.5 mm, while Dhamdhere and Shirur recorded 39.5 mm and 39 mm, respectively.

Within and around Pune, Haveli recorded 35 mm and Magarpatta received 30.5 mm. Chinchwad recorded 19.5 mm, Pashan 14.6 mm and the National Defence Academy 5.5 mm. The readings show a wide variation across monitoring locations, with heavier rainfall concentrated in several parts of the district and eastern and central urban areas.

A separate weather update issued for 8.30 am on Monday recorded 36.2 mm of rainfall at Lohgaon. The update also recorded relative humidity of 100% at both Shivajinagar and Chinchwad. Minimum temperatures at the two locations were 21.2°C and 21.3°C, respectively.

The rainfall measurements cover the period from 8.30 am on November 1 to 8.30 am on November 2. They provide a location-wise picture of conditions across Pune rather than a single city-wide rainfall figure. This distinction is important for residents and agencies because precipitation levels differed substantially between monitoring stations, including locations within the wider metropolitan area.

In its local forecast issued on Sunday, the IMD said Pune and its neighbourhood were likely to experience mainly clear skies becoming partly cloudy towards the afternoon or evening on Monday and Tuesday. Very light to light rain was also likely on both days.

The IMD forecast a maximum temperature of 33°C and a minimum of 22°C for Pune on Monday. For Tuesday, it forecast a maximum of 32°C and a minimum of 23°C. The combination of high humidity and intermittent rain is expected to remain part of the immediate weather pattern, according to the department’s forecast.

The outlook indicates partly cloudy conditions towards the afternoon or evening on Wednesday, followed by mainly clear skies from Thursday through Saturday. No further rainfall totals or location-specific civic impacts were provided in the supplied report. The next forecast updates and local observations will establish whether the rainfall remains light or becomes more widespread across Pune district.
