Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Prayagraj on 13 December for a three-hour visit during which he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of projects worth ₹7,000 crore. His itinerary also includes performing a puja at the Sangam and promoting the region’s cultural and infrastructural development.
PM Modi will arrive in Prayagraj around 11 AM and travel from Arail Ghat to Quila Ghat aboard the Nishadraj hybrid electric catamaran, which he had earlier inaugurated in Varanasi. A key highlight of his visit is the virtual inauguration of the Shringverpur Dham Corridor, which will ease travel for pilgrims heading to the Sangam and other sacred sites like Shringverpur, historically recognised as the kingdom of Nishadraj in the Ramayana. The Shringverpur Dham Corridor project is valued at ₹135 crore and aims to enhance the spiritual tourism infrastructure of the region. Apart from road and corridor projects, the Prime Minister will launch initiatives across railways, airports, irrigation, and urban beautification. Notable projects include:
Shringverpur Dham Corridor: ₹135 crore
Bharadwaj Ashram Corridor: ₹13 crore
Akshayavat Corridor: ₹18 crore
Hanuman Mandir Corridor: ₹40 crore
Development of seven bathing ghats: ₹240 crore
These projects are expected to significantly boost religious tourism and enhance connectivity within Prayagraj and its surrounding regions. PM Modi will also unveil the “Kumbh Sahayak Chatbot,” an initiative designed to assist pilgrims during the Kumbh Mela with real-time information and guidance. By focusing on corridors and ghats associated with Prayagraj’s rich heritage, the projects aim to honour its historical and spiritual legacy while integrating modern infrastructure. PM Modi’s visit underscores the government’s commitment to preserving cultural landmarks and promoting regional development. As Prayagraj prepares to host the Prime Minister, these initiatives promise to bring long-term benefits to the region’s economy, tourism, and connectivity.
