Deoghar Rural Students Get Rs 1.45 Crore Science Centre

A Rs 1.45 crore science centre with robotics, 3D printing, drones and virtual reality facilities has been inaugurated at Amjo village in Deoghar district to expand access to practical science education for rural students. The centre was opened on Friday at the upgraded primary school building in Devipur block under the Jharkhand government’s Navpravartan Jharkhand initiative.

Minority welfare and water resources minister Hafizul Hassan inaugurated the facility. He said children in rural Jharkhand had significant talent but needed access to the opportunities and resources required to develop it. According to the minister, equipment such as 3D printers, robotics kits, drone prototypes and a planetarium would help students build technological skills and compete globally.

The centre has been divided into four sections: an Activity Hall, India’s Space Heritage, Indian Science and Technology, and an Entertainment Gallery. Its facilities include FDM and SLA 3D printers, robotic arms, robotic dogs, writing robots, industrial drone prototypes, robotics and Internet of Things kits, virtual reality headsets, augmented reality equipment and a smart hydroponic farming model.

The facility also includes a telescope, space mission models, a planetarium dome, a Mars rover prototype, a fossil section, a simulated coal mine, renewable energy models and interactive human anatomy exhibits. Demonstrations at the science park and entertainment gallery are designed to explain concepts including gravity, motion, energy, optics and mathematics through practical engagement.

The centre’s development under a state initiative places the facility within a wider effort to bring technology-oriented learning beyond major towns and conventional classrooms. Rather than limiting exposure to textbook instruction, the centre provides district students with access to equipment and models linked to manufacturing, automation, space science, renewable energy and farming technology.

Deoghar deputy commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuwania said the district administration would organise educational visits to the centre for students from all government schools in the district. He said the facility would help develop scientific temperament and enable children to understand modern science and technology through practical experience.

Hassan also urged students to use technology constructively, maintain a reasonable distance from mobile phones and social media, focus on their studies, understand scientific experiments and explore emerging technologies. The stated objective is therefore not only to display equipment but also to encourage guided learning and experimentation among school students.

Zila parishad chairperson Kiran Kumari, deputy development commissioner Piyush Sinha and other district and block officials attended the inauguration. The district administration’s proposed school visits will determine how widely the new centre is used across government schools in Deoghar.
