Hyderabad Greyhounds Land Row Deepens Over 10.10-Acre Transfer

A fresh dispute over Hyderabad Greyhounds land has emerged after former Telangana minister T Harish Rao alleged that 10.10 acres of property at Manchirevula were transferred to private parties after the state had secured the larger tract through litigation. He demanded a judicial inquiry headed by a sitting judge into the alleged transactions.

Harish Rao made the allegations at a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Saturday. According to the Times of India report, he displayed judgments, registration documents, encumbrance certificates and Bhu Bharati records that he said showed irregularities in the handling of the land.

Harish Rao said the previous BRS government had fought a legal battle in the High Court and the Supreme Court to secure 142 acres of Manchirevula Greyhounds land for the state. He referred to an August 1, 2023 Supreme Court verdict that was delivered in favour of the state.

However, he alleged that 10.10 acres of the land were subsequently transferred to private parties after a compound wall was demolished. Citing a document registered in 2026 at the Gandipet sub-registrar’s office, he claimed that the property had a recorded market value of approximately ₹45.39 crore and was transferred through a conveyance deed without consideration.

Harish Rao further alleged that the transaction could have caused a potential loss of nearly ₹1,000 crore to the government. The report does not independently establish the alleged transfer, the valuation or the stated potential loss. The documents and records cited at the press conference would need to be examined by the relevant authorities as part of any inquiry.

The dispute places the focus on how government land recovered through court proceedings is protected, recorded and transferred after litigation ends. The allegations also raise questions about the role of registration records, encumbrance certificates, land databases and physical site controls in preventing changes to public property records or possession.

Harish Rao accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of taking credit for land cases pursued by the previous BRS government while allegedly facilitating the transfer of government land to private parties. These political allegations were made at the same press conference and were not independently substantiated in the supplied report.

He sought a judicial investigation headed by a sitting judge into the alleged irregularities. Harish Rao also referred to the separate Miyapur land dispute, saying the previous BRS government had initiated investigations, arrested accused persons and appointed senior advocate C S Vaidyanathan to pursue the case. The immediate next step sought in the Manchirevula matter is the judicial inquiry demanded by Harish Rao.
