Chennai Suburban Trains Get More Services From November 1

Chennai suburban commuters will get extended train services to Tiruvallur, Kadambattur and Sullurupeta, along with a new midday service between Tiruvallur and Moore Market Complex, after Southern Railway’s revised timetable comes into effect from November 1.

The revised schedule will apply to Sunday services from November 1 and to weekday services from November 2. It includes additional stoppages, revised fast and slow local services, extended train routes and changes to timings on key suburban corridors.

On the Chennai Central-Arakkonam section, Train No. 43230 will depart from Tiruvallur at 12.25pm and reach Moore Market Complex at 1.45pm. An existing morning service from Moore Market Complex to Pattabiram will be extended to Tiruvallur as Train No. 43209. It will leave Moore Market Complex at 7.10am and arrive at Tiruvallur at 8.30am.

The corresponding service will depart from Tiruvallur at 8.45am and reach Moore Market Complex at 10.20am. Two other services will also be extended to Kadambattur. Train No. 43903 will leave Moore Market Complex at 2pm and arrive at Kadambattur at 3.25pm, while Train No. 43904 will depart from Kadambattur at 3.35pm and reach Moore Market Complex at 5.05pm.

Southern Railway will also change the stopping pattern of two evening services operating towards Arakkonam. The 7.30pm fast local will operate as a slow local and stop at all stations. The 7.45pm slow local will be changed to a fast local.

On the Chennai Central-Sullurupeta section, a morning service will be extended beyond Gummidipundi to Sullurupeta. The service will leave Moore Market Complex at 5.20am and reach Sullurupeta at 7.55am. Its return service will depart from Sullurupeta at 8.10am and arrive at Moore Market Complex at 10.40am.

The changes also cover the Chennai Beach-Chengalpet section. Train No. 40904 from Arakkonam will receive an additional stoppage at Guduvancheri at 9.20am. The revised schedule therefore changes both the reach of selected services and the way commuters at intermediate stations can access fast and slow trains.

MRTS timings between Chennai Beach, Velachery and St Thomas Mount will remain unchanged under the revised timetable. Commuters using the affected suburban services have been advised to check updated timings and stoppages on the National Train Enquiry System, or NTES, app before travelling.

The revised schedule will be implemented in two stages, beginning with Sunday services on November 1 and followed by weekday services from November 2.
