Delhi Metro services will run until midnight on October 30 to help transport spectators attending Diljit Dosanjh’s concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi, with DMRC expecting around 70,000 people at the event. Additional train trips, standby trains, extra security and expanded customer support have been planned for the concert evening.
The extended service will cover all Delhi Metro lines except the Airport Express Line and the Rapid Metro serving Gurugram, according to information attributed to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. The extension is intended to manage the additional demand expected after the concert and provide attendees with a public transport option for their return journey.
DMRC has clarified that the decision to operate services until midnight does not mean that the last train will depart from every station at exactly 12 am. The final train time will vary by station and route. Passengers have been advised to check the last-train timings for their specific destination before travelling.
The corporation will operate additional train trips across the network and keep standby trains ready for deployment if passenger numbers rise sharply. The arrangement is intended to provide operational flexibility as crowds leave the stadium and use interchange stations to reach different parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region.
JLN Stadium station on the Violet Line, the closest Metro station to the concert venue, will have additional security personnel. DMRC also plans to install extra metal-detector doors and strengthen security screening at the station. Additional staff and customer-service personnel will be deployed at JLN Stadium and key interchange stations to guide passengers and help manage crowd movement.
The Delhi Metro Sarthi mobile application will also allow QR tickets to be purchased for an additional hour, in line with the extended operating schedule. Concertgoers have been advised to plan their journeys and obtain tickets in advance to reduce congestion during the post-event rush.
The transport arrangements will operate alongside traffic restrictions announced by the Delhi Traffic Police. Restrictions and diversions will be in force from 1 pm to midnight on October 30 on roads around JLN Stadium and nearby areas. Parking around the stadium will not be available for general spectators, making the Metro the principal public transport option highlighted in the advisory.
The arrangements place the concert within the wider operational challenge of moving a large, time-bound crowd through a dense urban transport network. For passengers, the key points are that services will continue until midnight on most lines, the nearest station will face enhanced screening, and the last train from each station may depart before midnight. DMRC and traffic authorities’ restrictions will remain in effect through the concert period.
