Karimnagar Government Medical College’s permanent building is facing a fresh push for faster completion, with District Collector Chitra Mishra directing officials to expedite the remaining construction work and bring the facility into use quickly.
The direction was issued during a review of the project at the Integrated District Offices Complex (IDOC), where Medical Education Commissioner Ramadevi, the college principal and other officials assessed the progress of the permanent building. Officials were instructed to complete the pending works swiftly and avoid delays in execution.
The review also focused on the facilities available to students in the college and its hostels. The officials directed the concerned departments to ensure that necessary basic amenities are provided, while asking them to coordinate with one another to address construction-related issues without delay.
The administration’s instructions place the permanent building and student accommodation within the same implementation priority. The review did not specify the percentage of work completed, the nature of the remaining tasks, the project cost or a revised completion date. It also did not state when the permanent building would formally become operational.
Mishra said better facilities were necessary to support quality education for medical students. She directed officials to take proactive measures to resolve students’ problems and ensure that the permanent building was brought into use at the earliest.
The intervention highlights the administrative coordination required to complete public educational infrastructure after construction has begun. The district administration, medical education authorities, college management and agencies handling the works will need to work together on the remaining tasks and the provision of basic facilities.
For students, the immediate issue is not only the completion of the permanent structure but also the availability of functional facilities in the college and hostels during the transition. The review therefore linked the pace of construction with day-to-day conditions affecting medical education.
No specific deadline or next review date was announced in the report. Officials have been instructed to continue coordinated work, resolve pending issues proactively and complete the remaining construction tasks so that the permanent Karimnagar Government Medical College building can be brought into use quickly.
