NH-765 Black Spots Trigger Joint Safety Inspection in Telangana

Traffic police and officials from multiple Telangana departments inspected 11 accident-prone locations and black spots along National Highway-765 on Tuesday, while issuing notices to wine shops operating on both sides of the highway over the required 500-metre distance from the road.

The inspection was led by Shivam Upadhyaya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Future City Police Commissionerate, across the limits of Maheshwaram, Kandukur, Kadthal and Amangal police stations. Officials from the Traffic Police, Law and Order Police, National Highways, Transport Department and Municipal Administration took part in the exercise.

The locations inspected included Thummalur Gate, Rachulur Gate, Peddamma Temple, Kandukur X Road, Kothur X Road, Navaru Balreddy Garden at Kandukur, MRR Restaurant at Kandukur, Nedunur Gate and Debbadaguda Gate under Maheshwaram Traffic Police Station limits. Mucherla Gate under Kadthal Police Station and the Cotton Mill area under Amangal Police Station were also examined.

According to the traffic police, the joint team assessed factors that could be contributing to accidents and fatalities at the identified points. Upadhyaya discussed preventive measures and road-safety improvements with officials responsible for NH-765, stressing the need for coordinated action to reduce crashes and protect motorists.

The inspection places the highway’s black spots within a broader multi-agency responsibility. Traffic police and local police can identify risks and enforce road-safety rules, while highway authorities and municipal officials are responsible for examining infrastructure and roadside conditions. Transport officials also have a role in regulating vehicles and addressing violations connected with road use.

As part of the exercise, notices were served on owners of wine shops located along both sides of NH-765. The establishments were instructed to maintain a distance of 500 metres from the National Highway and were cautioned that violations and illegal activities could attract action under applicable laws. The report did not specify the number of establishments served notices or provide a deadline for compliance.

The inspection was attended by J. Ashok Kumar, Inspector of Maheshwaram Traffic Police Station; Shankaraiah, Inspector of Amangal Traffic Police Station; Venkateshwarlu, Station House Officer of Kandukur Police Station; Saidi Reddy, Station House Officer of Kadthal Police Station; Venkateshwarlu, Station House Officer of Amangal Police Station; and Dhanujaya, Sub-Inspector at Maheshwaram Law and Order Police Station.

Officials from other departments included Motor Vehicle Inspector Raghavulu, Regional Officer Srinivas, NH-765 Deputy Engineer Ashwini and Amangal Municipal Commissioner Raghavender. The Future City Traffic Police said it would continue to focus on coordinated inspections, identification of accident-prone locations and preventive action along the highway.
