Consumers covered under the Gruha Jyoti scheme in the Mysuru region have until October 31 to submit pending documents for verification, Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) said, warning that beneficiaries must complete the process to continue receiving up to 200 units of free electricity.
CESC said details had been collected from 19,67,919 of the 24,29,607 consumers identified for verification across Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Kodagu and Chamarajanagar districts. This represents 81% progress, leaving roughly 19% of the identified consumers yet to complete the process.
Consumers whose details could not be collected during the door-to-door survey because their houses were locked or vacant have been asked to visit their respective CESC subdivision offices. They must submit the required documents before the October 31 deadline.
According to CESC’s progress report, survey teams found 2,36,380 houses locked and 95,681 houses vacant. The corporation also recorded 7,041 rejected cases. In total, details for 23,07,021 cases had been recorded, including verified consumers, locked houses, vacant houses and rejected cases. This accounts for 94.95% of the 24,29,607 consumers identified for verification.
Verification progress varied across the five districts. Kodagu recorded the highest progress at 82.89%, followed by Mandya at 81.78%, Hassan at 81.72%, Chamarajanagar at 80.90% and Mysuru at 79.87%.
The figures show that the remaining cases are not limited to consumers who have failed to submit documents. A substantial number involve homes that survey teams could not access during the field exercise. The utility has therefore directed such consumers to complete the process directly through CESC’s subdivision offices rather than wait for another door-to-door visit.
CESC officials said electricity bills for consumers whose details have been submitted will carry the remark “GJ Surveyed” this month. The remark is intended to indicate that the consumer’s information has been recorded as part of the verification exercise.
The verification drive places the responsibility for resolving pending cases on both the utility and beneficiaries before the deadline. Consumers who have not been surveyed or whose documents remain pending must approach their respective CESC subdivision offices and submit the required details by October 31.
