Rajasthan Transmission Network Gets ₹949-Crore Power Grid Boost

Jyoti Structures has secured ₹949.35 crore in orders from state-owned Power Grid Corporation of India for two ±800 kV high-voltage direct current transmission line packages in Rajasthan, with both projects scheduled for completion within 38 months of their respective notifications of award.

The engineering, procurement and construction company said in a statement that the orders cover work under the Bipole Barmer-II and South Kalamb Transmission Lines project. The scope includes the supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the transmission lines on a turnkey basis.

The combined order value excludes goods and services tax, according to the company. Jyoti Structures said it received Notifications of Award from Power Grid for the two packages, which form part of the state’s high-capacity transmission infrastructure network.

The use of ±800 kV HVDC technology places the projects in the category of long-distance, high-capacity power transmission systems. Such infrastructure is used to move electricity across large distances while connecting generation centres with demand areas through dedicated transmission corridors. The company statement, however, did not provide details on the route lengths, substations, land requirements or the expected power-transfer capacity of the two packages.

Amit Dutta, chief operating officer of Jyoti Structures, said the company was grateful for the opportunity to contribute to India’s transmission infrastructure through projects of this scale. “Our experience in the sector guides our approach to infrastructure project delivery. We look forward to working closely with Power Grid Corporation of India Limited to deliver these projects as planned,” he said.

Power Grid’s latest awards follow a ₹689.93-crore order that Jyoti Structures recently received from Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited for the 765 kV DC Pachchham-Saykha Transmission Line project in Gujarat. The company is a listed EPC contractor specialising in power transmission infrastructure.

The Rajasthan orders add to the transmission capacity being built around the state’s large-scale power infrastructure. Their execution will involve multiple stages, including procurement of equipment and materials, construction and erection works, system testing and final commissioning. The 38-month completion period will begin separately for each package from the date of its respective notification of award, Jyoti Structures said.
