Gruha Jyoti Scheme: CESC Sets October 31 Deadline for Pending Details

The Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC) has asked consumers who have not yet submitted or updated their details under Karnataka’s Gruha Jyoti scheme to provide the required documents by October 31. The deadline applies to consumers across Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Kodagu and Chamarajanagar districts served by the power utility.

CESC said 24,29,607 consumers had been taken up for verification under the scheme. Information has been submitted for 19,67,919 consumers, representing 81% progress in the data-collection exercise.

The utility said its field staff could not collect details from some households because homes were locked or vacant. Its progress report records 2,36,380 locked houses and 95,681 vacant houses. A further 7,041 cases were rejected.

Including consumers whose information has been submitted, locked and vacant houses, and rejected cases, details have been recorded for 23,07,021 cases. CESC said this accounts for 94.95% of the consumers considered for verification.

Consumers who were unavailable when survey staff visited, including those whose homes were locked, have been asked to contact their local CESC sub-division office before October 31. They must submit the required documents and complete the information-collection process for the Gruha Jyoti scheme.

The exercise is intended to update beneficiary information across CESC’s service area. The utility has asked consumers to cooperate so that the verification of scheme beneficiaries can be completed.

District-level progress varies across the five districts. Kodagu has recorded the highest progress at 82.89%, followed by Hassan at 81.72%, Mandya at 81.78% and Chamarajanagar at 80.90%. Mysuru has recorded 79.87% progress, according to CESC.

The utility’s request places the immediate responsibility on consumers whose information has not been captured or whose cases require follow-up. They have been directed to approach the CESC office serving their area and submit the documents needed to complete the verification before the October 31 deadline.
