Ahmedabad Aadhaar Centres to Open Every Sunday Across 7 Zones

Ahmedabad Aadhaar centres will now remain open every Sunday across all seven zones of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, giving residents an additional day to access Aadhaar-related services. The centres will operate from 10 am to 6 pm, according to a report by Divya Bhaskar.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has introduced the Sunday service to make civic facilities more accessible to residents who cannot visit during regular working days. The decision is expected to particularly benefit working residents, students, traders and others whose schedules make weekday visits difficult.

The Sunday arrangement was inaugurated on October 25 at the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s North West Zone office in the Bodakdev area. The inauguration was attended by the mayor and other civic office-bearers, who announced the start of the weekly service at the zonal office.

Under the new arrangement, one Aadhaar service centre in each of the municipal corporation’s seven zones will remain operational every Sunday. The centres will be available in the Central, North, East, South, West, North West and South West zones of Ahmedabad.

Residents will be able to use the Aadhaar-related services available at these centres during the Sunday working hours. The report does not specify a separate list of services or whether residents will need prior appointments for particular requests. Residents may therefore need to confirm the applicable requirements with the relevant centre before visiting.

The civic body’s decision addresses a recurring access problem at Aadhaar service centres, where residents reportedly visit in large numbers for Aadhaar enrolment and other Aadhaar-related work. The centres generally experience crowding from Monday to Saturday, according to the report.

By adding Sunday operations, the municipal corporation expects to distribute visits across an additional working day. The arrangement is intended to give residents greater flexibility, reduce waiting time and extend access to more people without limiting services to regular weekdays.

The move also places the seven zonal offices in a more direct role in delivering a high-demand public service. Rather than requiring residents to depend only on weekday availability, the Sunday schedule creates a fixed weekly window for Aadhaar-related work across the city’s municipal zones.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has asked residents to make use of the Aadhaar service centres on Sundays. The centres are scheduled to remain open every Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm across the seven zones.
