Microtek Commits ₹400 Crore to Solar Plant and Battery Storage

Microtek has committed more than ₹400 crore to expand its solar business, including a new solar panel manufacturing plant in Jaipur that the company expects to make operational by November 2026. The investment comes as the power equipment maker expands into battery storage and household energy-management systems.

The company announced the investment at Renewable Energy Expo 2026, which concluded on Saturday, and detailed the plans in a statement issued on Sunday. Microtek said the Jaipur facility would support its expansion in solar manufacturing, while its new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is intended to help households and businesses store and manage electricity.

The move places solar generation and storage alongside Microtek’s existing business areas of power generation, distribution, conditioning and storage. At the expo, the company showcased home inverters, UPS systems, batteries, electrical wires, solar panels, solar inverters and lithium batteries.

Microtek said its expansion is aligned with the government’s PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, which aims to bring rooftop solar power to one crore households. The company said its products are designed to help consumers generate, store and manage electricity, while reducing dependence on conventional power sources.

N K Aggarwal, founder and chairman of Microtek International Pvt Ltd, said the company’s “Har Ghar Bijli Ghar” vision was aimed at helping households generate and manage their own electricity. He said Microtek’s portfolio across generation, distribution, conditioning and storage was built on nearly four decades of experience in power reliability, and that its BESS and lithium-based products were intended to address changing energy needs in India.

The planned plant and storage products come as households and businesses increasingly combine electricity consumption with on-site generation and backup systems. The company’s announcement, however, does not specify the planned manufacturing capacity of the Jaipur plant, the investment split between solar panels and storage, or the number of jobs expected to be created.

Microtek said its distribution network includes more than 100,000 dealers across India. It expects to more than double revenue in financial year 2026-27 to ₹5,000 crore and has set an ambition of reaching ₹10,000 crore within two years. The company said its next major operational milestone would be the expected commissioning of the Jaipur solar panel plant by November 2026.
