Motherson investment in Yamuna City is set to bring a ₹3,491 crore automobile-components manufacturing project to sectors 6 and 7, after the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) issued the company an intent letter for 150 acres of land on Friday.
Samvardhana Motherson International Limited, whose registered office is in Mumbai and corporate office is in Noida, plans to establish a manufacturing unit for products used in cars and other vehicles. The proposed facility is expected to include production, assembly and quality-testing operations for automotive components.
According to the information reported by Navbharat Times, the project will manufacture wiring harnesses, PVC-insulated wires, rear-view mirrors, automotive lighting systems, precision metal components, exhaust systems and aerospace components. The planned facilities will also include injection moulding, advanced tooling, assembly and product-testing capabilities.
The reported investment has been divided across land, buildings, plant and machinery, utilities and other facilities. Plant and machinery are expected to account for ₹1,928 crore, while ₹997 crore has been earmarked for building construction. Utilities and other facilities are estimated at ₹383 crore, and ₹183 crore is allocated for land.
The company’s proposal is expected to generate between 15,000 and 20,000 jobs over the next five years, according to the report. The estimate covers the proposed project’s employment potential, although the supplied information does not specify how many positions will be created directly at the plant or when recruitment will begin.
The project places automotive manufacturing alongside the wider industrial expansion taking place in the Yamuna Authority area. The development of Noida International Airport in Jewar has increased attention on the region’s connectivity and its potential as a location for industrial and commercial activity. YEIDA is presenting the Motherson proposal as part of a broader increase in industrial investment in the area.
The proposed unit could also create demand for supporting activities linked to component manufacturing, including logistics, transport, assembly services and quality testing. The reported product mix places the project across several segments of the automotive supply chain rather than limiting it to a single component category.
For the Yamuna City region, the land allocation represents a shift from planning industrial plots to building a manufacturing ecosystem around them. The scale of the proposed investment will make the availability of utilities, transport links and supporting services important to the project’s implementation. However, the supplied report does not provide a construction start date, commissioning schedule, project completion deadline or details of the approvals still required.
The immediate confirmed milestone is the issuance of the intent letter by YEIDA. Further progress will depend on the company’s project execution and the development of the proposed manufacturing facilities in sectors 6 and 7. The authority and the company have not, in the supplied information, announced a detailed implementation timetable.
