Northeast Teachers Constituency Election Records 13.51% Turnout by 10 am

The Northeast Teachers Constituency election for the Karnataka Legislative Council recorded 13.51% voter turnout by 10 am on Friday, with 4,700 of the 34,784 registered voters casting their ballots across 144 polling stations in seven districts of Kalyana Karnataka.

Voting began at 8 am, and teachers were reported to be standing in queues and participating actively, according to Prajavani. The constituency covers Ballari, Vijayanagara, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Koppal and Raichur districts.

Of the 4,700 voters who had cast their votes by 10 am, 2,960 were men and 1,740 were women. The turnout figure represents the early voting pattern in a constituency where teachers are choosing their representative to the Legislative Council.

Kalaburagi recorded the highest number of votes cast by 10 am, with 1,588 voters exercising their franchise. Bidar followed with 897 voters, while Raichur recorded 727 votes. Vijayanagara reported 472 votes and Ballari 409 votes during the same period.

Koppal recorded 337 votes by 10 am, while Yadgir reported 295 votes. The district-wise figures indicate differing levels of early participation across the seven districts, although the report does not provide district-wise turnout percentages or a comparison with previous elections.

The election is being held through the teachers constituency system, under which eligible teachers in the designated constituency vote for Legislative Council representation. The final turnout will depend on voting during the remaining polling hours and the participation of the rest of the registered electorate.
